A fable I wrote for my Spanish creative writing class. Here's what I would write if I were writing it in English (aka not a direct translation.)

A bishop left church and walked through the city. After a while he entered a very poor neighborhood. The bishop wore fine white robes with gold threads, and he began to worry about the state of his clothing. The streets were muddy and he wanted to maintain his cleanliness.
Suddenly, an old dog crossed the street in front of the bishop and shook himself. Drops of dirty water flew from his coat and stained the bishop's robes.
The bishop was furious.
"Damned dog!" he cried. "Watch your behavior! Don't you know you're in front of a bishop?"
"I had to shake myself," the dog said, casually.
"But look here, old man, you've soiled the robes of a man of God! Go to church and pray."
The dog lifted his head and spoke.
"Your divine clothing, can it feed my family? Can it sing lullabies at my sick little girl's cradle?"
The bishop did not respond.
"Then it seems to me that your clothing doesn't deserve its cleanliness. And me, who spends all day looking through trash to find food for my family? My coat deserves to be clean."
And he turned and left, walking in between two trash bins with dignity.
